There’s no way of telling how popular the game is on NCSoft’s own Purple platform on PC. Lineage W, similar to the first Lineage title and Lineage II, will be an MMORPG. The Android version boasts over one million installs. Android iOS News PC Lineage W Announced for Mobile Devices and PC. A mobile version of the MMORPG Lineage II, Lineage 2M (Free) released in Korea and it. Players complain about lag and problems with the game simply not working.ĭespite the differences in review numbers, Lineage W on iOS is #6 in role playing. A while ago, Lineage 2: Revolution, a direct prequel to Lineage II launched on iOS and Android. Over on Apple only 124 users have actually given the game a review, scoring it a much lower 2.0. We have the evolution of the iPhone & iOS in a stunning infographic, see the key iOS features evolve along with unti sales, stocks, release dates and more. Maybe it's their way of solving that issue. It would make sense since they added auto combat to try and negate the use of bots. Lineage W currently sits at a 4.0/5 on Android with over 70 thousand review scores attached to the game. NCSoft has announced Lineage W, a free-to-play MMORPG set to release this year across the globe for PC, iOS/Android mobile devices, and consoles including PlayStation 5 & Nintendo Switch. Many L2 players use chrome remote, TeamViewer, parsec, etc., in order to set up there toons remotely and still things functioning while away from their computers. Either that or Apple users just don’t leave comments in Korea because they’re afraid of the curse associated with the practice. Well after a week I can say it’s a lot more popular on Android than it appears to be on iOS. We’re about three months out of the disastrous launch of Blade & Soul 2 in Korea, and the sentiment in and around NCSoft with regard to Lineage W has basically been “let’s not screw this up too.” NCSoft unleashed some bold promises regarding Lineage W addressing the potential of pay to win, and now that the game is out how are people responding to it?

□ What can we do with these Briqs?Īll briqs received from teammates can be redeemed in our Bootiq (our personal e-shop on which briqs can be spent) □. Employees can then decide how and to whom they want to send their briqs. This command allows us to send a chosen amount of briqs (anywhere from 1 to 3) to a colleague of our choosing, with a message thanking them and explaining why we gave them the briqs, then adding a hashtag with one of our values (because everything we do revolves around our values □).Įveryday, AB Tasty offers 4 to 6 briqs to each employee. ⚙️ How does it work?Īll employees have the power to take part in it simply by using a specific command on Slack. There are many ways to thank an employee for their hard work and great behavior, and we use Briq to do so, which is our awesome tool to share the team spirit and reward each other for what we love about the other great people in the AB Tasty community!īriqs are a virtual currency that employees send to each other and redeem for items.Įach one of us is granted with the mission of showing our teammates they matter, celebrating every single victory and making our values and spirit live on a daily basis.Īs stated above, the purpose is simply to give love and “reward” our colleagues everyday using Slack. Risk: Memory exhaustion or thrashing on the desktop app.The actual impact of stale data varies widely based on the type of data, behavior of the data, and reason for updating the data. Similarly, reduced load on the server for retrieving large data sets that change infrequently. Benefit: Reduced network utilization between client and server.Benefit: Screens in the desktop application load faster. Here’s my attempt:ĭata is worth caching if it causes a visible increase in responsiveness to the end user without adding significant risks. These guidelines are not universal, but it’s worth having justification for what we are doing. This list is large - megabytes - but it is probably worth caching to save a few seconds here or there. We turn on new customers each month, but the list of customers isn’t continually changing throughout the day. In our application, we like to show a dropdown list or grid filled out with all the names of customers. In some cases, a collection of data is very large and unchanging. If we retrieve this data frequently, the average user will be quite annoyed at a 200-millisecond delay. Retrieving the data from the cloud may take 100 milliseconds for someone who is working close to the data center, but for our remote offices there is an extra 100 milliseconds delay simply due to the distance and routers in between them and the server. Because this is a three-tier business application, the actual permanent data resides on a database server in the data center or cloud. So let’s start off with why we are caching data. Let’s focus on why this particular app chose to cache data. There are a number of reasons to cache data, but this brief article isn’t a place to cover the entire theory of caching. Why am I caching data in the first place? I could continue listing things, but I think you already see where I am going. A big fat “Reset Cache” button on the app that didn’t actually reset all the caches due to some forgetful omissions in the code.Lots of spaghetti code that made it hard to tell what data was being cached, and when.Duplicative caches collecting the same data in slightly different ways.Inconsistent behavior in cached data - some caches would reset automatically over time, and others would not.Among the app’s caching problems were these three: So I woke up the other day to notice that I was managing a legacy business application, and it had some terrible caching problems. There are two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors. You may have heard some variation on this programming joke: One experience of the tradeoffs involved in caching useful data, and a solution that may be imperfect but is useful. I may d/l ICaching on my mac since that's what I always bring when traveling which is when I do most of my geocaching.Caching in a C# Line of Business Application Although the computer I use most frequently is a Macbook pro I have access to a windows machine at home on which I can run GSAK. I have tried running GSAK on a mac and it's a bit of a hassle. Not all Garmin GPS devices support GGZ and photos. But overall it works well and I think it's better than trying to get GSAK to work non-natively on a mac. There are still many features that I'd like to see added, such as filtering from locations other than your home location, filter by route, and the ability to select an area on the map. I also discovered recently that iCaching will install photos associated with geocaches to your Garmin device (I also discovered recently that Garmin handhelds support the association of photos with geocaches.) I used to just load pocket queries directly from the website, but GGZ has changed my outlook on loading and managing geocaches. The motivating factor was the addition of GGZ support. I finally broke down and paid for iCaching. Soft tissues like blood vessels should not be there if the bones were 65 million years old. rex bone were justifiably identified as ‘blood vessels’. Left: The flexible branching structures in the T. (It appears that the fossils were sent to her to look for soft tissues, prior to preservative being applied, because of her known interest.) In fact, Schweitzer has since found similar soft tissue in several other dinosaur specimens! Schweitzer was probably alert to the possibility because of her previous serendipitous discovery of T. It appears that this sort of thing has not been found before mainly because it was never looked for. Furthermore, she said, ‘The microstructures that look like cells are preserved in every way.’ She also is reported as commenting that ‘preservation of this extent, where you still have this flexibility and transparency, has never been seen in a dinosaur before.’ She has been cited as saying that the blood vessels were flexible, and that in some instances, one could squeeze out their contents. Dr Schweitzer used chemicals to dissolve the bony matrix, revealing the soft tissue still present. The bone was still largely hollow and not filled up with minerals as is usual. The exciting discovery was apparently made when researchers were forced to break open the leg bone of a Tyrannosaurus rex fossil to lift it by helicopter. One description of a portion of the tissue was that it is ‘flexible and resilient and when stretched returns to its original shape’. But these bones are claimed to be 65 million years old, yet they manage to retain this structure. It beggars belief that elastic tissue like this could have lasted for 65 million years.ī: Another instance of ‘fresh appearance’ which similarly makes it hard to believe in the ‘millions of years’.Ĭ: Regions of bone showing where the fibrous structure is still present, compared to most fossil bones which lack this structure. (From A: The arrow points to a tissue fragment that is still elastic. Superstring is the easiest way to create your animated lyric video on both Windows and Mac.

Total mileage in each shoe is probably around 15-20 miles. Since that sprint test, both Bret and I have worn the shoes day-to-day, both while running and just during every day tasks like walking the dogs or going to the gym. While the gap isn’t enormous, two tenths of a second over 50 meters is an appreciable performance advantage and one we were not expecting to see. We ran each shoe in both directions four times, timing each and picking the best time for each shoe. I paced off what I thought was roughly 50 meters, but that measurement likely isn’t totally accurate. Honestly, the test should have been stacked in the Marathon’s favor not only is Bret much more used to the Adidas Marathons (running in them every day), but at 9oz, they’re a full ounce lighter than the next lightest shoe here, the On Cloudsurfer, and perceptibly lighter than the 13.5oz Springblades.ĭon’t judge Bret’s split times too harshly. The Test: As you can see in the above video, we ran timed 50 meter sprints in all the shoes, including a “control” pair, which were Bret’s standard running shoes and roughly equivalent to the class occupied by the spring-loaded competitors-a nice shoe for casual runners and occasional racers. It’s worth noting that none of these makes the outright claim of “faster” (likely due to the qualifiers mentioned above), instead hedging with statements like “…harness and release more energy to help propel you forward,” (Adidas) “…rip through mud, snow, sand and grass…” (Reebok) and “…transforming running energy into forward momentum,” (On). So what’s the idea with the springs? Well, all three shoes here claim a performance advantage from them. You totally could run a marathon in them they’re just not going to be as light and minimalist as the shoes currently worn by champion professional athletes in that sport. Instead, all three of the shoes you see here are targeted at casual runners-people who run for exercise and recreation and maybe compete in the occasional race. They’re also not ultralight running shoes of the kind worn by marathon winners, although the Ons are beginning to make waves in the professional Triathalon world. Those will always be track spikes, as worn by athletes like Usain Bolt. The first thing you have to get your head around is that these aren’t and can’t be the fastest running shoes out there. Barth had included the ability for players to record their solution for Infinifactory, a three-dimensional block-based game, but these images required viewers to have some spatial concept of how the solution was laid out. One driver in developing Opus Magnum was to make sure players could make animated GIF images of their solutions to share. For Opus Magnum they wanted to create a story and setting to help drive players to finish puzzles, but wanted to avoid the steampunk nature that seemed to be a clear fit for the game's mechanics. While Barth led the programming effort, Matthew Burns was the writer for the game's dialog and composed its music. Codex was popular enough for Barth to create an expansion, also written in Flash, called Magnum Opus Challenge. Opus Magnum is a refined version of Barth's first game, The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, which was a 2008 browser game programmed in Adobe Flash. Zach Barth is the primary developer behind Zachtronics and has created a number of puzzle-driven programming games. Zach Barth (left) and Matthew Burns, at the 2019 Game Developers Choice Awards The game includes Steam Workshop support to allow users to supply their own puzzles, with the game only accepting puzzles that the user has shown possible to complete on their own. The game is structured through several chapters, providing the player with multiple puzzles they can work on and come back to as needed, though all puzzles within a chapter must be completed to progress to the next. Completed devices can be exported into an animated GIF to be shared on social media. Player can then attempt alternate solutions that improve in any of these areas. Once a player has successfully demonstrated a device that completes the goals of the puzzle, they are ranked with all other players based on three factors: the speed of the device, the cost of the device, and the total area that the device takes. Should the device encounter a physically impossible situation (collision between atoms, collision of an atom and an arm base or two arms trying to move an atom in two different directions at the same time), the device will stop and require the player to readjust the machine. The goal for most puzzles is to deliver a fixed number of target output products, thus testing the machine's operation over several cycles. Manipulators can have individual programs, and each run simultaneously once the machine is started. Īfter placing manipulators, the player must then provide each manipulator a set of commands that take atoms from input spaces and drop the proper completed material into the target output space an early puzzle demonstrates how one turns lead into gold. Manipulation parts have a cost to them, though the player is not limited to a total number of manipulation elements, cost, or space the device takes up in crafting their solution. Transmutation spaces can create a bond, destroy a bond, transform a basic element into "salt", or upgrade base metals into higher ones using quicksilver. Manipulators are mechanical arms that rotate around a pivot point, pick up and drop atoms, and rotate structures it currently has picked up, with optional variants that can extend and retract the arm, and/or travel along a track path. The engine is represented as a hex grid which the player arranges various manipulation tools and transmutation spaces on. Opus Magnum has the player take the role of an alchemist to create required products by manipulating atoms of base alchemy elements (the classic elements as well as the metals of antiquity) through a device they construct within a transmutation engine. Opus Magnum is based on The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, one of the earliest Flash games made by Zach Barth prior to establishing Zachtronics. The player can advance with any working solution to each problem, but is challenged through leaderboards to produce a machine that does the task in the shortest time, with the lowest cost of materials, and/or the smallest occupied area. In the game, the player must assemble a series of machines using various tools and program them to complete alchemy-related tasks. It was released for Microsoft Windows, Linux and macOS in December 2017, following about two months of early access. Opus Magnum is a puzzle-based programming game developed by Zachtronics.
